The Aadhaar Enabled Public Distribution System (AePDS) is an initiative by the Government of Maharashtra to modernize and streamline the Public Distribution System (PDS) for efficient delivery of essential commodities to beneficiaries. By integrating Aadhaar numbers, AePDS aims to ensure transparency, reduce leakages, and enhance the accuracy of beneficiary identification.
Key Features:
- Beneficiary Authentication: Utilizing Aadhaar-based authentication, AePDS ensures that only eligible beneficiaries receive their entitled food grains and other commodities, thereby minimizing fraud and ensuring accurate distribution.
- Real-Time Monitoring: The system enables real-time tracking of transactions, allowing authorities to monitor the distribution process effectively and make data-driven decisions.
- Digital Transactions: AePDS promotes cashless transactions, reducing the need for physical money handling and enhancing the convenience for beneficiaries.
- Grievance Redressal: The platform provides mechanisms for beneficiaries to register complaints and track their resolution, ensuring accountability and responsiveness.
Recent Updates:
As of December 14, 2024, the distribution for the month of November 2024 is in progress. The system reports that out of 1,72,64,776 total cards, 1,51,53,001 cards have availed their entitlements, indicating an availed percentage of 87.76%. Additionally, 12,25,583 cards have utilized the portability feature, allowing beneficiaries to receive their entitlements from any Fair Price Shop (FPS) across the state. citeturn0search0
